Mexico's newest bass fishing lake is Lake El Salto located 50 miles north of the seaside resort of Mazatlan. El Salto has the largest population of trophy size bass (8 to 14 lbs. ) of any lake in the world. The lake was just recently opened for public fishing and its first fishermen found a trophy bonanza, with 85% of everyone who fished El Salto to date hooking the biggest fish of their lifetime. The huge bass of El Salto will strike a variety of lures all year, but topwaters and crankbaits are the best.
Our clients stay at the newly constructed "Camp El Salto," which is built at the water's edge on the west side of the lake. This beautiful little camp is a favorite with all of our clients. It is a four building camp with a screened-in circular restaurant overlooking beautiful lake El Salto. The houses have two private bedrooms and an adjoining shower and bath combination.
Camp El Salto's prevailing breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean assure great comfort all year, and the screened-in rooms with ceiling fans are truly delightful. Blankets are needed each night.
Camp El Salto's chef is "Chita" and her food is just wonderful. Chita prepares a mixture of American, Mexican, and local seafood dishes that will please the most difficult of palates. Mazatlan with it's fantastic beaches, is your gateway city to both El Salto and Comedero lakes, and is serviced by airlines from all over the USA We will arrange your transportation from Mazatlan to both lakes.
El Salto lake is located only an hour drive from Mazatlan, which offers some of the world's best Marlin and Sailfishing. If you desire, we can arrange a combo triple header of two days on Comedero, two days on El Salto, and one or two days Marlin and Sailfishing out of Mazatlan. No other place in the world can offer this great combination trip.
Best Lures: Almost any type of lure will catch fish on both lakes. You should be able to use your favorite lure most of your trip and do great. Top waters are great! However a reasonable supply of crankbaits, spinners, and worms of almost any color will be fine.
Boats: All boats are 16 ft. fiberglass Bass Boats. They are equipped with two swivel seats, sonar, rod holders, drink holders, plus an elevated casting deck in front. Each boat is equipped with a 40 horsepower Mariner engine and the latest Motorguide Trolling Motor with a new deep cycle trolling battery.
