Report

This week on Lake Fork the water temp is in the mid 50's and the lake is full. Water conditions are mostly stained with main lake being the clearest. This weekend is forecast for another front with warming after it blows through. Looks like winter is a done deal! The fish are ready to spawn as soon as conditions are to thier liking. April is going to be AWESOME!!! The spawn should last well into May. The Males are showing up in the backs of the creeks and the Ladies are ready to dance. The lake is in perfect condition for the spawn being full so the fish have the best cover. With the fish in pre spawn pattern we are looking for a reaction bite. Best baits have been lipless crank baits in red or orange and any variation of the crawdad patterns. Chartreuse and white spinnerbaits along with shad crankbaits are also a good choice. Fish suspending jerk baits in gold and clown after a front using slow twitches and long pauses and the fish should bite on the pause. Concentrate your efforts on secondary points and the the edge of spawning flats. Grass flats are holding fish but are scattered. Cuts and drains will only get better as the water temp. rises. The full moon is on the 30th and the waves of big fish should be pushing into the spawning areas. Be careful, have a great spring and we'll see you on Lake Fork!
