Anglers Educational Seminars, owned by professional angler, Sherry Ruslink, will be conducting her popular bass fishing classes for ladies. The last two classes of the year are scheduled for October 7 & 8, 2000, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM; and the other is slated for December 2 & 3, 2000, 1:00 – 5:00 PM which will be held at Oak Ridge Marina on Lake Fork. Advance registration is required, and classes are limited to 20 students each. Each class is 8 hours total, and the registration fee is $75.00 per student. Registration forms can be obtained from Ruslink by calling 903-383-7310, 1-877-523-9227, or email: ladybass@koyote.com.

In 1991, the inaugural bass fishing class for ladies was held at the University of Texas - Arlington, Continuing Education. The first class was so well received that it had to be divided into two classes for the semester. Sherry taught a class every fall, winter, and spring at UTA for 8 years. She conducted coed fishing seminars at Tarrant County Junior College, plus she was invited as a guest speaker to Baylor University in Waco adding a new dimension in the HPE course content.

Ruslink has taught in the Texas Parks and Wildlife program, “Becoming an Outdoors Woman”, and at intervals teaches for the National Wild Turkey Federation in their “Women in the Outdoors” program. Teaching ladies to fish is Sherry’s enthused goal in life. Anglers Educational Seminars offers “Beginning Bass Fishing Techniques for Ladies”, “Advanced Bass Fishing Techniques for Ladies”, and “Casting” classes. Most of her classes are taught at community centers throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, and are hosted by Bass Clubs, company educational programs, ladies organizations, and sports centers.

“Beginning Bass Fishing Techniques” is an eight hour class that covers 1)Bass Behavior; 2)Rod and Reels; how to buy a setup for a woman, backbone and action of the rod; Reels, their gear ratio, how to hold it comfortably, and how to set the hook!; 3)Line, knots, and hooks; how to tie a knot, what lb test to use when, Texas rig and Carolina rig; 4)Lures, which one to use, what color, the basics. Not only will the students become more knowledgeable, but confidence will be gained in applying basic fishing skills. This is a great place to meet other ladies that share a common desire to fish.

To request a registration form or obtain additional information on the class, call Sherry D. Ruslink at 903-383-7310 or email: ladybass@koyote.com
