Fishing Report My partner and I had a rough day of fishing on Saturday. We started early down on the south end cranking a main lake point then moved in and fished around shallow pepper grass. We boated about 5 or 6 shorts and moved to a deep drain with a brushpile in about 18ft. I caught a small keeper on a dropshot on my first drop follow up with a short on the 2nd drop. After about 20 mins. of no more bites we ran over to a grassy drain. My partner caught a small keeper on a crankbait right off the bat and I followed it up with a 1oz jig fish in the grass. With no more bites we headed up near the Black Forest. My partner caught a solid keeper just under 3 lbs on a 400 series Bandit crankbait and I caught a 2.25 lb fish on a stanley ribbit in about 1ft of water. We had 5 keepers by 10am but they would only weigh about 10lbs. Our day went down hill from there. We caught 2 or 3 more small keepers and never really figured out the fish. Later that day at the Bass Champs weighin, the bigger sacks were caught on Carolina Rigs, jig, and Crankbaits in 20 - 28ft of water. Most all stated they were fishing near ledge drops. The winners fished ledges that went from 20ft down to 40ft with there fish sitting in 20 to 28ft. Second place cranked ledges in 20ft, and the 3rd place team fish brush in 15 to 25ft then pictch jigs in the grass.

There are fish both shallow and deep but the deep bites seems to be the best one. Good luck. Be sure to visit www.SamRayburnBlog.com for tournament updates on Sam Rayburn.
