Cancun and the surrounding area offer some excellent sportfishing opportunities. Deep sea fishing in the outer Caribbean for sailfish, marlin, dorado, wahoo, grouper and bluefin tuna can be incredible. The many nearby inlets, flats and lagoons give anglers a chance to try their luck at catching tarpon, snook, permit and some hard fighting bonefish.

For those who go out more for daytime than night-time sports, Cancun, with its beaches of powdery coral sand, is the place to be. Cancun is a snorkel and scuba diving paradise, the lagoon enclosed by the -L- shape of the island, is ideal for sailing and water-skiing. Deep-sea fishing and diving are fantastic in the open sea, which stretches out in shades of light-green to turquoise from the shoreline to the violet-blue horizon.

The nutrient rich Caribbean waters near Cancun support a vast array of sport fish with exceptional fishing opportunities all year long. We fish virtually every day and know where these fish are located.

World Class describes Ascension Bay and Bocapaila flats fishing. Hundreds of square miles where it’s common to see bonefish, permit, tarpon and barracuda in the same day, all year round! With seasons for migrants tarpon and snook. That’s why probably more Grand Slams have been caught here than anywhere else. You certainly have to bring tackle for all this species an at least 3 rods to be ready any time.

You can expect to see tons of Atlantic sailfish with good numbers of white marlin mixed in from late March through June or even July. The prime months are April and May. The area of the Yucatan is similar to Venezuela's in its reliable production of billfish grand slams (one each of sailfish, white marlin, blue marlin). In addition to the good runs of sailfish and white marlin in the spring, blue marlin make a good showing from late April through June. Sail down and hook-up or fly into Cancun.

Sailfish, white and blue marlin, slammer dolphins, blackfin, skipjack, yellowfin tuna, kingfish and wahoo are abundant in the waters near Cancun, depending on the time of year. Atlantic sailfish migrate from late March to June or July. White marlin in May. June for blue marlin. Dorado (mahi mahi), snapper, tuna, kingfish and wahoo can be caught year round. Non migratory sailfish live close by throughout the year. Occasionally we see broadbill swordfish or spearfish. Most of the billfish are average size, but world records are set nearly every year so come try your luck!
